AQIS (Association of Queer International Students) is Penn’s only student group catered for the needs of queer students from global backgrounds. We provide mentorship, plan social events, and promote discussion about international queer issues.The acronym AQIS, phonetically pronounced a-ki, means here in Spanish and to whom in French. The pronunciation is also closely related to the term my brother in Arabic and strange in Mandarin.
J-Bagel is a safe space and social support group for Jewish LGBTQQAI undergrad and grad students and their allies. Funded by Hillel of Greater Philadelphia, J-Bagel has members from Penn and other colleges throughout the Philadelphia area. Nurses PUSH is Penn’s first student group aimed specifically at promoting quality LGBTQ patient care among student nurses. Many of the topics covered in a variety of lectures, events, and film screenings will be applicable for all healthcare workers, and we actively welcome students and faculty from the other schools at Penn as well! oSTEM at Penn is a chapter of Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (oSTEM), the national student society dedicated to increasing participation of people who identify with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) communities in disciplines related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). We also seek to strengthen visibility and community bonds for STEM students who identify as LGBTQ.
PATH — Penn’s Athletes & Allies Tackling Homophobia — is a task force that was started to address the mutual concerns of Penn’s LGBT and Athletic communities. By encouraging a dialogue between the groups, we hope to create a safe environment for athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans of all sexual orientations and gender identities. As a group, we also hope to provide resources for those in the athletic community who wish to come out, and for heterosexual athletes and coaches to receive accurate information about LGBT issues.
Penn Non-Cis (Non-Cisgender) is a group that supports trans students and advocate for trans inclusion at Penn. We promote discussion of issues around gender identity and expression, host events promoting inclusiveness, and provide a weekly safe space for trans community members and students.
Penn Q&A (Penn Queer & Asian) is a group oriented towards the intersection of the Asian and queer communities at Penn. Our mission is to develop a strong sense of unity between ethnic and sexual identity. Founded in 2014, we are a new group seeking to expand a presence on campus.
Queer People of Color (QPOC) is an undergraduate and graduate student group that seeks to address issues of mutual exclusivity between the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community and the people of color communities at Penn by providing support for individuals who belong to both communities and by creating an environment conducive to the discussion of related topics at Penn. We hold speaker events, movie screenings, discussions, and a number of other events in conjunction with a diverse array of groups througout the University.
The Queer Student Alliance at the University of Pennsylvania is a group of undergraduate students who identify as or are supportive of gender identity or sexual minorities. The Queer Student Alliance strives to support these communities through facilitating social and community-oriented activities. It provides and advocates for a safe space where students can feel free to be who they are, to freely express their gender and sexual identity and receive support from other students.
The Wharton Alliance is the Ivy League’s only undergraduate pre-professional organization dedicated to gender and sexuality minorities. We are committed to establishing an accepting environment for LGBT students in the business world. Our vision is to provide professional aid and support for LGBT Penn undergraduates through various programs including mentoring, targeted recruiting, and skills workshops.
